A few simple things can make a difference

People who know what we’re about know that we think a just, sane and sustainable world will only come about with radical system change. However, we’re also about what can be done in the here and now to start making a difference – building a new world in the shell of the old. There are some simple things which can start to make a difference that need to be done right now…

When we’re faced with a massive decline in the insect population which will wreck the ecosystems we rely upon, while system change is of the utmost importance, there are simple things that most of us can start to do right now to save the situation. One is planting bee and insect friendly plants. Even if you only have a balcony in a block of flats, you can plant some pots and tubs. Whatever size garden you have, think about what you can plant that will attract insects and consider leave a part of the garden to go wild. If you live on an estate, think about a patch of land where you can plant and encourage bee and insect friendly plants to grow.

Every little bit helps. You’re small bee/insect friendly patch in the backyard may not seem to be much but when you multiply that thousands of times, it can start to make a real difference. The bonus is that one established, it involves less work than conventional, neatness and looks obsessed gardening:)
