Greetings & Love,
If you have had a shit day please read this 2 minute post it will cheer you the hope up. πŸ‘Š

Today myself and 4 volunteers, 2 adults and 2 willing children loaded with crops and tools and seeds ready to tackle the garden ahead, turned up at a house with a young couple with three children who were very welcoming.

We got straight to graft and dug up a 15ft Γ— 5ft 5 inch deep bed. Turned over the lovely soil that was underneath and planted around 40 single crops ranging from tomatoes, broccoli, courgettes, broad beans, radish, some salads, and sowed end of season salads and herbs seeds and some other preps were made for winter, a compost heap was created and now another young family are inspired more to grow their own and build community.
BoomπŸ‘Š

Thick grass and hard Essex clay with some gravel is no easy task, but with a little help from our friends and moving forward with this mission together and with the children is the best feeling ever.

Capitalist agricultural practices are a major cause of climate change and food insecurity around the world, including the UK. Good quality food, like housing, is a basic necessity and should be available to all. Given that the current food industry is about profits rather than needs, many people have begun to take control over both food production and consumption. Already pre-lockdown there were a number of alternative food projects including community gardens, organic city farms and community kitchens, but with the inadequacies of the supermarket system and the hardship endured by many people, the concept of DIY food has taken off even more.
