Repair, mend, upcycle and re-use… All ways of getting off the corporate, consumerist treadmill while giving a helping hand to the planet. Also, events like this are a good way of learning new skills that will help to make our possessions last longer. Lastly but by no means least, they’re sociable and fun:)
Been looking forward to this, our second repair cafe at The Railway, for some time, and we are proud to report it was well worth the wait with some great repairs, new repairers, new connections and to do it in The beautiful Railway Hotel.
We were very excited with the donation of two 1960’s Toyota blindstich, buttonhole sewing machines from Ken who had contacted us through the fb page. We can hardly wait to getting these up and running and creating some 1960’s throwback clobber.
New recruit Mac took his first repair, a Toshiba flat screen TV, in his stride. The sound worked but not the screen. The prognosis was to pick up a replacement graphics module £17 ebay, other e market places available. Watch this space.
